Wade Watts is the protagonist of the movie Ready Player One, released in 2018. He is portrayed by Tye Sheridan.
Watts is a teenage orphan living in the Stacks, a poverty-stricken area built from stacked mobile homes in Columbus, Ohio, in a dystopian 2045. He is a skilled "gunter," or Easter egg hunter, dedicated to finding the hidden keys and gate within the OASIS, a virtual reality simulation.
His avatar within the OASIS is named Parzival, and he becomes a prominent figure in the global hunt for the late James Halliday's fortune and control of the OASIS itself. He eventually bands together with other skilled gunters to stop the evil corporation IOI from gaining control of the OASIS.
